Twenty-eight (28) year-old truck driver Gregory Boadwine, who starred in Ice Road Trucker on the History Channel last season, was arrested last week for Battery Domestic Violence. The altercation happened in front of the couple's nine-year-old son. According to the police report, Boadwine elbowed his wife, and she shoved him back. Boadwine then grabbed her by the throat and shoved her against a door. His wife responded by slapping him across the face. The fight ended when the couple's son pleaded with them to stop.
In many Domestic Violence incidents, it is difficult to determine which person is the victim and which is the aggressor. In addition, even when the altercation is a mutual fight or the woman is the aggressor, it is often the man who ends up getting arrested. Some police officers believe that if they are called out on a Domestic Violence call that they must arrest someone; and frequently the officers assume that because the man is larger or stronger, that he must be the offender. But, many times, that is not the case, and the man may simply be acting in self-defense.
The consequences for a Domestic Violence conviction have become increasingly serious over the last several years. In Nevada, the laws against domestic violence are particularly harsh. If this incident happened in Las Vegas, the husband would likely be facing Felony Domestic Violence by Strangulation charges. He might also be facing Child Endangerment charges because the fight happened in front of the couple"s child.
