Former Washington Wizard player Javaris Crittenton has been charged and is currently being sought in connection with the murder of a woman in Atlanta. The 22-year-old woman was walking down the street with a group of people when an SUV pulled up alongside the group and fired at the group. The woman was shot in the hip and died later in surgery. Police do not believe she was the intended target. Instead, police believe the shooting was intended as retaliation for a robbery in April in which Crittenton was the victim. Crittenton also made headlines in January 2010 when he and another player were accused of pulling guns on each other in the team locker room.
There is no more serious than Murder, and murder cases are extremely complex. Most people assume that if a person is charged and arrested, they must be guilty. But, many times that is not the case. Many police detectives subscribe to the theory that "the most obvious explanation is usually the right one" - meaning that they will choose the easiest target and build a case against them, instead of developing the evidence and letting the evidence show who the suspect should be. In addition, there are many different types of Homicide. Just because someone was killed doesn't mean it was a murder. Some killings can be mitigated or even completely justified.
